The Idea

Not Film Noir - Donna Fatale. The Italian femme fatale is a different archetype entirely: androgynous, aristocratic, bitter-sweet, a wolf in white clothing. The concept was built on a 107-page academic dissertation on the Italian Donna Fatale - from ancient mythology through the silent film divas of 1913. The research revealed the key: the Italian femme fatale wears white, not black. Her danger is hidden. Her power is in the contrast between light clothing and dark eyes, between seduction and diffidence, between the man who thinks he leads and the woman who decided everything before he arrived. The editorial was published under the title A Midsummer Night's Dream - Shakespeare's world of illusion, disguise, and desire mapped onto the Italian Donna Fatale. This concept was developed in collaboration with Francesco Di Maio, Uomo Moderno's publisher — a shared creative vision translated into a fully executed visual campaign.

The Challenge

Direct a cover shoot and multi-look editorial for an Italian men's fashion magazine - three distinct looks for the male lead, rotating singles and doubles with the female model, across three separate location setups - and deliver images that carried the full weight of a 100-year-old cultural archetype without explaining it.

The Execution

Three locations. Three looks for Peter Facinelli - two formal, one casual. Each location chosen for its resonance with the Donna Fatale world: an old leather couch, a twilight city porch, a cigar saloon with two leather chairs. Female lead: Heather Hahn, Trump Models. Shoot structured as rotating singles and doubles - the power dynamic shifting in every frame. The white shirt was not a styling choice - it was a direct translation of the dissertation: the Donna Fatale disguised in white, eyes dark, hair slightly unkempt, clothes light and flowing. Production required managing a large celebrity entourage alongside the core creative crew - coordinating competing priorities while maintaining creative direction integrity across all three location setups.

The Result

Cover of Uomo Moderno Summer 2015. Lead editorial story published. Credited as Creative Director and Photographer.

PROJECT DOCUMENTATION

The most dangerous creative decisions look effortless. Putting Heather Hahn in a man's white shirt was not a fashion choice - it was a 107-year-old archetype made visible in a single wardrobe decision. That is what research-driven creative direction produces: images that carry cultural weight without announcing it.
